The City of Dunseith purchased the Nursing Home in 1974
and has been responsible for operating it since that
time. There is a Management Agreement with the Heart of
America Medical Association from Rugby that has been in
place since 1990. An Advisory Board has been appointed
by the City Council to supervise the operation which
meets on a monthly basis to assist in the management in
the operation.
The mission of the Nursing Home is to provide Long Term
Skilled Nursing Care to our residents. This facility
provides a much needed service to our community which
has given us good support for many years. We provide
licensed professional nurses, nursing aids, rehab aids,
certified activities director, licensed social worker,
and complete dining room services including registered
dietitian and certified dietary manager to accomplish
our mission. We are licensed by the North Dakota
Department of Health which surveys the operation every
year. The Nursing home is also approved by Medicare and
Medicaid. We are currently licensed to care for 35
residents and do that by providing 19 single rooms and 8
double rooms.
The Nursing Home provided employment to 58 individuals
which is very important to our community. All full range
of skills is necessary to meet the requirements of the
North Dakota Department of Health and are proud to say
our employees meet all of those requirements.
We
have always had very good community support. The church
clergy provides religious services, some of the local
church ladies assist with food, entertainment, and group
activities. There is a Nursing Home Auxiliary
organization which is also very important to the home.
They help in raising needed funds for resident
activities and were recently involved in helping
purchase new furniture and drapes for our lounge area.
This organization was recently recognized as the
Volunteer of the Year by the North Dakota Long Term Care
Association which we are very proud of. Over the years,
we have also received many monetary gifts from community
individuals. In appreciation for this community support,
the Nursing Home invites local people to a supper and
entertainment every year. This is always done during
Nursing Home Week.
