Log House
Tourist Information Center
Dunseith's Log
House Tourist Information Center was begun as a project
for the 1989 North Dakota Centennial. Funds were
partially from proceeds resulting from a very successful
100th celebration of Dunseith in 1982. Logs were
brought in from eastern Montana and construction done on
sight with completion late in 1988. It is located
next to the "W'eel Turtle"--the world's largest man-made
turtle constructed of over 2000 wheel rims and standing
two stories high. Both are located near the
junction of US Hwy. 281 and ND Hwy. 5. Many North
Dakota and Native American handcrafted items and other
gifts are available including copies of the 1982
Dunseith Centennial History Book and pottery items from
the 125th celebration of 2007. Six camping spots
with full hook-ups are available. The Log House is
open from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day daily with
hours 10 AM to 6 PM. The telephone number is (701)
244-5860. |
