Trip to the Turtle Mountains
Reply from Geri Metcalfe Munro (’59): Fargo, ND
Hi Gary—We made a trip “up home” to the Turtle Mts over Labor Day weekend, Friday night was the wedding of Cheri and Jim Evans’ son, David and Kyleigh Monson, then the picnic at Cheri and Jim’s home with all of our Metcalfe siblimgs, the Evans’ and the Berube families. What a wonderful time we had. Then, on Sunday a picnic at my sis, Patti and Jack Woods, at the Metcalfe farm at the border—after touring Rabbit City Lake, where our grandparents had homesteaded, we stopped at Dale’s Cafe in Dunseith and enjoyed a “Jumbo Dale
Hamburger (we used to call it a Dales’s Special) in the olden days —in the late 50’s. We used to go to Herman’s Snow White Bakery and get a Bismarck for 10 cents or 3/25 cents. The Dale’s Special was as we had remembered it—we don’t like a lot of “stuff” piled way high, but this was terrific!! It was fun to see the picture oof Jimmy Evans and daughter, Diane—hope they send out more pictures——–it was a beautiful wedding at the Christian Center…….

Qustion, is Kyleigh related to Sandy Monson Gottbreht? Gary
Message from Dale Pritchard (’63): Leesville, LA
Gary,
I think I need to get with Mel Kuhn to find what is safe to do when a wife is gone. From what I’ve read, I would probably be in more trouble. Jackie left yesterday morning headed for Ashburn, VA (western DC area) to greet our first grandchild when “she” arrives sometime this month. There is a “C” Section scheduled for Sep 19th but it’s looking like it may be earlier. Jackie made 560 miles yesterday and 720 today for 1,280 total and got there tonight about 11:30 PM their time. She was antsy about making that drive herself but she gets pretty determined when her mind is made up. Our son, Wayne, and I will be driving the other car up next month to see the baby then we’ll be giving the first car to our daughter and son-in-law and coming back together. We have a couple places and people we would like to see in NC while we’re in that area. Pictures later!
