From Meryle Hoopman Vinje (’74): Prescott, WI
Betty Belcourt (Alfred’s wife) mothers name is Dotty Colborn Johnson Forby. Dotty, my mother Myrtle Colborn Hoopman (Sissy) and Percy Colborn are siblings. Unfortunately, they have all passed away. Betty and Alfred would visit our place and what an absolutely wonderful couple and such a beautiful family. I will miss him.

I am guessing Sheryl is about 3 years old and she was born in 1980. Bernie was born in 1971.

Philippine Jeepney.
Jeepney’s are the primary mode of transportation for the locals in the Philippines.
Following WWII, the United States left thousands of Jeeps in the Philippines. The Filipino’s started using them as taxi’s, so that is how the name came about. Folks would jump in from behind and sit on the bench seats to go to from point “A” to point “B” along the jeepney routes. Those old Willis jeepneys have all been replaced with ones similar to the one pictured below. I’d say they make up about 1/4 of all the vehicles on the roads in the Philippines today. They are very controlled by the government too with franchises and specific routes they can ply. The fares they charge are also regulated.

Joke of the day from an Alumnus
Sammy decided to tie the knot with his long time girlfriend.
One evening, after the honeymoon, he was organizing his golf equipment. His wife was standing nearby watching him.
After a long period of silence she finally speaks. “Honey, I’ve been thinking … now that we’re married I think it’s
time you quit golfing. Maybe you should sell your golf clubs and golf cart.”
Sammy Boy gets this horrified look on his face.
She says “Darling, what’s wrong.”
“There for a minute you were sounding like my ex-wife.”
“Ex-wife” she screams. “I didn’t know you were married before!”
“I wasn’t”.
