Folks,
This will be the last blog that I will be posting before we leave for the states. We will be leaving tomorrow (Monday) night. We arrive in Seattle Tuesday noon. We plan on driving from Seattle arriving in Bottineau the evening of July 1st. We will be staying with my Brother Darrel/Debby in Bottineau. Our cell phone numbers are local Bottineau numbers that I will be getting activated Wednesday Morning. Gary (701) 480-9116. Bernadette (701) 480-9196.
Bernadette is not well, so it has been touch and go if we will be leaving. She had another spell several days ago that she is recovering from. At the moment it looks like a go for us to leave. We will just have to deal with things as they come up while on our trip. At the moment my plans are to schedule our return trip to the Philippines for the first available seats after July 15th. After we get to the states we can easily change our return ticket. Until then, we can not. Bernadette truly wants to go on this trip. Today she is trying to instill in my mind and hers too, that she is much better than she truly is. Today her speech is still a bit slurred and her motor skills retarded. He mind is OK.

Geraldine (Virgil) Rude passed away
Posted by Neola Kofoid Garbe: Bottineau & Minot, ND
It is with heavy heart I’m sending this email. I understand cancer claimed another dear friend. I think I met Geraldine at the same time Virgil and Gerri met each other. Geraldine, her sister, and also their good friend, Vida, were in the top bunk at a 4-H Camp; my cousin, Sharon Kofoid, and I were in the bunks “under” two of the girls. I think Geraldine/her sister/Vida and Virgil were chaperones, Sharon and I were campers. Being younger and interested in the two “older) people who were trying to get to know each other (Virgil and Gerri), I think Sharon and I were often “pests”. LOL Little did we know at that time, Virgil and Gerri would marry/have a daughter, Rhonda/ and be life-long friends of mine. I’ve known Virgil since he was in high school (maybe longer), but that was when I met Geraldine.
Geraldine taught at Longfellow School for many years. Virgil and I taught at Bel Air at the same time for several years–until he was “promoted” to Elementary Supervisor and left BA.
I’ll send information as it is posted online (Minot Daily News or Thomas Family Funeral Home).
